Cofee and Qalaam holds Writers’ Session in Sopore

Cofee and Qalaam here on today held Writting Session for Young writers of Kashmir Valley at Mann te Salva Cafe in Sopore town in which Dozens of young and eminent poets and writers from across the length and breadth of the Kashmir participated. The session buzzed with literary discussions and creative writing for long day. Prominent Writer, Poet Tousief Tabish of Baderwah Valley was Chief Guest on the Occassion, while as Prominent writer Basharat Faukir was Guest of honour.

In the Event Several writers from three prime languages of the state; Kashmiri, Urdu, and English recited their works. The organizers said the session was aimed not only to regain the lost utility of our social spaces but also to provide a platform for aspiring writers. The participants described the event as a very important and successful activity which helped them a great deal in understanding literary trends and discuss language issues.

Prominent Poet and writer from Baderwah Valley Tousief Tabish who was also Chief Guest on the ocassion shared his experiences with the various writer’s and poets’ and interacted with the participants. He advised young and budding writers to study literature of other languages to sharpen their writing skills. He said this was a good initiative by the Cofee and Qalaam and was pleased to have visited the writers at the event and listen to their verses and prose.

Speaking to the Reporters on the Sidelines of Event, President Coffee and Qalaam Mohd Akeel Bhat said this is beginning of a new journey. We intend to hold such events in future also. He hoped that the young writers of valley will give more exposure to Kashmir and the Kashmiri literature at the national level in the coming days.

Young Writer Basharat Faukir on the occassion said that Such events should be held from time to time as these afford us opportunities to communicate with our youth in a direct and unhindered manner. He spoke about modern trends in literature.

Speaking at the concluding session, Prominent Poet and writer Sagar Aasif said that in holding this Event was an opportunity and was accorded to the participants to engage in creative writing and literary discourse. He said by coming in contact with each other and putting up together, different writers get to share ideas and experiences and adding that, it would be the Organisation’s endeavour to hold it regularly.

Among the poets and writer’s who read out their poetry included the budding English poets and Writers Sagar Aasif, Huzaif Bukhari, Sidrat ul Muntaha, Shah Talib. The event was sponsored by Newly Launched Food Outlet Mann te Salvah. Vote of thanks was presented by the President Coffee and Qalaam on the occasion.
