Srinagar, Apr 16 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir cyber police has registered several cases across the Kashmir valley against the people for misusing the social media platforms with fake posts, anonymous and fake identity.
Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that number of FIRs have been registered over the weeks against social media users for posting fake news, documents, hateful posts by using fake identity.
In a statement issued to KNO it said that the cyber police is monitoring all the social media platforms and the content being uploaded by the users, while it said that the anonymity of the profile of users is no defense.
It said one of the recent example is a morphed picture of Lal Chowk Ghanta ghar Srinagar that has been shown with a flag of Pakistan administered Kashmir uploaded on Facebook.
During the recent monitoring and patrolling of social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, twitter and LinkedIn it said, there has been some instances where some of the users were found posting fake news, fake document’s, incriminating/ hateful post’s by using fake identity.
It also said that on identification of such posts, which can create law and order problem and social inability action under relevant sections of law was initiated and FIRs were registered at various police stations and cyber police station of Kashmir zone.
As per the statement 8 FIRs have been registered against such users, it includes 3 FIRs at cyber police station Srinagar, while as 3 in north Kashmir, 1 at Beerwah and the other at Dooru Anantnag.
Among the 8 FIRs registered against social media users, police has arrested five social media users while one has been bailed out and two are yet to be arrested, the statement said—(KNO)
