Jammu, Jan 05 (KNO): At least 900 trucks laden with essential stock including rice, petroleum, and other stock reached Kashmir last night as the traffic remained shut for vehicular movement on Tuesday.

Talking exclusively to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Inspector General of Police (IGP) traffic Jammu and Kashmir, T Namgyal said that at least 900 vehicles carrying essential stock have reached the valley last night and there are no stranded vehicles at Ramban sector.

He said that the highway is still closed for vehicular movement from both sides. “Landslides have occurred at nearly four places and it is still raining with no improvement in the weather,” he said. “Once the weather shows improvement only then the clearance operation over the highway will start.”

The IGP said that there are no vehicles stranded over the highway on either sides. “The vehicles are either at Udhampur or Qazigund but none is stranded en-route or at Ramban sector”, the IGP said.

The IGP also said that the trucks with essential stock have already reached the valley last night and no vehicles were allowed to ply today given the prevailing highway condition.

“900 vehicles loaded with essential stock have reached the valley including Rice, petroleum and other essential stock including the fresh vegetables”, he said.

The IGP traffic further said that there may be more vehicles at the transit but maximum vehicles with essential stock have already entered Valley yesterday—(KNO)
