In earlier rallies, 1200 youth would participate, today over 2000 came for recruitment, says senior army officer

Srinagar, Oct 03 (KNO):  The army today appealed the youth of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir to join army for peace and prosperity of all the regions stating that the response to recruitment has gone up from past. The army said compared to the past recruitment rallies, where the number of aspirants would not pass 1200, the fresh recruitment rally held at Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre (JAKLI) Rangreth on Thursday.

According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), speaking to media men on the side-lines of recruitment rally at JAKLI regimental Centre at Rangreth here, first after the scrapping of Article 370, the army said that over 2000 youth participated in the recruitment rally. “The participants are from all the districts of the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Today, the number of participants is huge compared to the previous recruitments when from all districts, we would receive 1200 participants. Today, we received over 2000 aspirants who would undergo physical and other tests. Tommorow, we would be able to say the number of youth from districts,” said Brigadier S R Sharma, while talking to media men.

The participants seemed jubiliant to join the recruitment process. “I had a dream to join army since my childhood,” JibranAhmed,a  resident of Kokernag (KNO).
