Brother of slain militant join militant ranks, picture goes viral

A 21-year-old youth who was missing from Braw Bandina village of Awantipora area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has joined militant ranks as his picture with AK47 goes viral on social media.

Reports said that Aqib Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani has gone missing since June 10 after he left home for his routine work.

“He was doing PG Degree in Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) ,” his family member told news agency Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK).

They said they also contact his friends and relatives but in vain. “We then filed a missing report. Today we receive a shock when we see his picture with gun on social media, they added.

A senior police officer told Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK) that they have received a missing report on 15 June and a complaint was been lodged in the concern police station and we are verifying the authenticity of picture.

Apparently his elder brother Sohail Ahmad Wani was Al Badr Militants and was killed in Lolab area of Kupwara district in year 2008.
