Baramulla, July 18 (KNO): A complete lockdown was observed in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on the second straight days after deputy commissioner Baramulla issued orders for re-imposition of lockdown for three days after a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in the district.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that all the shops and other business establishments were closed while public transport was also off the roads for the second consecutive day in Baramulla town, Sopore, Pattan, Uri and Palhalan areas.

They said that only pharmaceutical shops remained open throughout the day while mains roads as well as the highway were sealed by the authorities at several places in the district.

Pertinently, deputy commissioner Baramulla, Dr. G N Itto in an order had said that in order to contain the further spread of COVID19, it has become imperative to impose severe restrictions in terms of section 144 CrPC and section 34 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and therefore restrictions are being imposed with immediate effect.

“All the relevant law enforcement agencies are meanwhile asked to ensure strict implementation of restrictions.”

The lockdown was re-imposed for 3 days with effect from 17 July, 2020 in view of sudden spike in COVID-19 positive cases in the district—(KNO)
