Total cases 120,971; death toll soars to 1,883; recovery rate over 96.67 percent in UT

Srinagar, Dec 31 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded three fresh deaths due to COVID-19 taking the death toll to 1,883 in the Union Territory while as 227 positive cases were reported taking the tally of positive cases to 120,971 in J&K.
Of the exact number of 120,971 cases, 71,033 are from Kashmir and 49,938 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 227 new cases, 123 belong to Kashmir division while as 126 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 71,033 including 68,314 recoveries and 1,186 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 49,938 including 47,765 recoveries and 697 deaths.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 3,009 including 1,533 from Kashmir division and 1,476 from Jammu division. With 249 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 116,079 which is 96.67 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 51 from Srinagar, 16 from Baramulla, 11 from Budgam, 12 from Kupwara, 19 from Pulwama, 10 from Anantnag, 02 from Bandipora and 07 from Ganderbal and 04 from Kulgam in Kashmir division while as 70 from Jammu division include from Jammu, 03 from Udhampur, 10 from Rajouri, 01 from Doda, 10 from Kathua, 01 from Kishtwar, 03 from Samba and 01 from Poonch and 01 from Ramban,” officials disclosed.
Notably, in the last 24 hours three persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died, among them two belong to Jammu division and one to Kashmir division.
As per officials figures, 25,315 positive cases including 450 deaths and 24,296 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,966 including 172 deaths and 7,676 recoveries are from Baramulla, 7,604 including 7,357 recoveries and 108 deaths are from Budgam, 5,531 including 5,318 recoveries and 91 deaths are from Kupwara, 5,554 including 88 deaths and 5,278 recoveries are from Pulwama, 4,792 including 4,601 recoveries and 83 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,645 cases including 4,534 and 60 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,469 including 4,344 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,662 including 2,546 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,493 including 2,364 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 23,796 including 22,585 recoveries and 355 deaths are from Jammu district, 4,082 including 3,953 recoveries and 57 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,840 including 3,617 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,386 including 3,273 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,196 including 3,094 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Kathua, 2,718 including 2,675 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,747 including 2,534 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Samba, 2,445 including 2,397 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Poonch, 2,104 including 2,055 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Ramban and 1,624 including 1,582 recoveries and 15 deaths are from Reasi.
As per the daily information bulletin, 885,230 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 13,165 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 3,009 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 83,6434 persons have completed surveillance period and 30,739 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 3,822,674 samples are available.
Out of 3,822,674 the number of samples tested negative stands at 3,701,703 while as 120,071 have tested positive, among them 3,009 persons are active, 116,079 persons have recovered and 1,883 persons have died—(KNO)
