Budgam 03 July: Dilapidated condition of Chewdara Soibgh Road of Budgam District is a nightmare for the people in the area, especially for the school children and the sick people. Although the Roads and Buildings Department is focusing on blacktopping road in urban areas of Kashmir, rural areas of the region are facing neglect. One of them is Chewdara Soibugh road of Sub Division Beerwah, which connects several villages with town and also Summer Capital Srinagar. It is dotted with big potholes, making walking and driving an ordeal. Dozens of villages including Chewdara,Ohangam,Rathsun,Radbugh,Razwen are facing problems due to bad conditions of roads. A local resident Mir Mushu Said that “we have been waiting for the repair of roads for several years, but no body is taking an interest. Several deputations have raised the issue with the administration and also with nodel officer of back to village recently but to no avail,”he said.
Locals alleged the condition of the road has worsened after it was handed over to the Road and Buildings Department as it is paying least attention to the road. Last year the authorities were carrying the minor repair works on the road which is still pending till date.
A local cab driver Abid who ferries passengers from Chewdara Magam and also srinagar on daily basis said. “we have to face a lot of problems due to the bad condition of road. Our vehicles suffer damage to the extent that we have to repair them once every month. He appealed the administration to macadamize the road as soon as possible.
Another resident said that while the government has macadamized the roads in the district, at the same time administration has neglected their areas thereby leaves them to lurch at large.
At least 10 villages are connected by this road while some of them macadamized last year and pending villages are facing due to pathetic conditions of the road, students,employees and also patients face immense hardship to reach their respective destinations,
Besides macadamization the encroachment is going on from past some years in our area. We appealed higher authorities several times to take a necessary action against the culprits but the department is in deep slumber and our request falls on deaf ears, a local said
Peoples of the area appeal to the authorities for macadamization of the road as soon as possible.
