No students turn up to schools to attend classes
Srinagar, 03 Oct,:Despite government announcement of opening up schools up to higher secondary level, educational institutions in valley wore a deserted look, while students stayed away from the classes.
According to news agency, government’s efforts to reopen schools, which have now been closed for two months following abrogation of Article 370, failed again as students stayed away from educational institutions.
Even in the schools at a stone’s throw from Direction office of Education department, students did not show up to resume their academic activities. Another reason responsible for holding students back from their schools is that most of the schools have been occupied by the security forces, making it impossible to allow a feasible atmosphere for classes to be held.
In Kothi Bagh School Srinagar, which is only separated with the Direction office by only a wall, teaching and administrative staff had reached to the school, but with no student turning up for classes, they returned back after a while.
Another school of the area, which houses a huge number of security forces, no class work was held. Security personnel present there did not allow media persons to take any picture of the school; however they were allowed to enter the school premises, where teachers told them that the school infrastructure has suffered a heavy damage on account of sanitation, making the school atmosphere in-conducive for holding class work. They said that it will take at least one month to clean up various pockets of the school, which are covered with garbage.
“Botanical laboratory, few other labs and some classrooms are presently never in a condition to hold classes. To hold class work, it is important that security forces are shifted from the educational institutions”, they said. (CNS)
