Former Minister & Senior Leader JKAP Usman Majid has strongly objected the order of DOPT( under the Union Ministry of personal, public grievances & pensions) regarding to transfer all the service matters of the employees of erstwhile J&K UT presently pending in Jammu and Srinagar wings to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Chandigarh Bench.

Usman said, the people of Jammu & Kashmir have a fundamental right to have access to justice at their doorsteps. But unfortunately the notification issued by DOPT is a big blow to the justice in J&K.

“There are almost 50,000 service matters pending in jammu & Srinagar wings of J&K High Court, mainly pertaining to Daily wagers, casual labourers,HDF workers & class IV employees of J&K.These people will not afford to get justice, keeping in view financial implications. The litigations will be subjected to undue harassment as it would not be possible for every employee to visit Chandigarh for pursuing case.Secondly, it speaks upon the livelihood of Lawyers practising before J&K High Court.Their livelihoods are either in serious jeopardy or have completely vanished at pesent times”, Usman added.

Usman Majid said, the GOI should withdraw the notification order in the interest of people of J&K and also the immediate steps may be taken to establish a regular bench of the CAT at Jammu & Srinagar.
