On receiving an input about the presence of some suspicious bag in the area of Gulgam, Kupwara, teams of 41RR and 160 TA of Army, 68 Bn CRPF & JKP launched a joint search operation.
While searching the area a bag was found in panchayat ghar. The area was immediately cordoned off and bomb disposal team of Army was called in to investigate. On investigation it was found out that the suspicious bag contained improvised explosive device. The IED was transferred to a safe location and was destroyed successfully by the army.
The immediate, timely and precise actions by the army and police averted nefarious designs of anti national elements and reinforced faith of Awam in the Army, especially during the time of elections.
