Sopore, June 25:
Awareness programme on International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was organised by RAAHAT a Non-governmental organisation in collaboration with civil society sopore was held today at sopore. 

Members of various civil organizations of sopore including civil society, economic alliance, Anjuman Moin-ul- Islam sopore, samaj sudhar committee sopore, lawyers and other respectable personalities of sopore were participate the program. 

On the occasion chairman ‘RAAHAT’ Ashiq Hussain zaki said drug addiction was emerging as a very serious problem especially in sopore town. Various observations have showed us that the problem of drug addiction is emerging as one of the great challenges for all of us. All globally known drugs are consumed in sopore town, he said substance abuse is a global problem so kashmir is not an exception because of pathological social conditions like conflict, political instability and various processes of social change, substance Abuse and its trafficking is one of the burning social issue which is multidimensional and deep rooted, Zaki said.

Others who spoke on this burning issue including Chairman economic alliance sopore haji Muhammad Ashraf ganaie and social activist Advocate Mursaleen. 

Zaki further said that a comprehensive approach to deal with the grave issue was needed.
