Kidnapped girl recovered, accused arrested in Kulgam: Police

Srinagar, Dec 30 (KNO): Police in Kulgam on Wednesday claimed to have recovered a kidnapped girl and arrested the person involved in the commission of crime.

Spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that on 3rd December 2020, Police Station D H Pora received a complaint from a person that his daughter was kidnapped by one individual identified as Rayees Ahmad Khanday son of Ghulam Mohiudin Khanday resident of Nagnard DK Marag.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 181/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station D.H.Pora and investigation was initiated.

“During the course of investigation a team headed by SHO D H Pora was constituted. Acting on specific leads, the team was able to recover the kidnapped girl and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime. He has been shifted to PS D H Pora where he remains in custody,” police said.

After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Investigation into the matter is in progress, police said, adding that swift action by police against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals.

“Community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood. They can share information pertaining to social crimes with police. We reassure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue,” the statement further added—(KNO)
