Meteorological department has predicted that Jammu and Kashmir is all set to receive rainfall during next 24 hours.

The MeT issued the alert after rains lashed different parts of Kashmir on Thursday evening.

According to a MeT official Srinagar recorded 1.8 mm of rainfall, Qazigund 2.0mm, Pahalgam 4.3mm, Kupwara 15.2mm, Kokernag 0.2mm and Gulmarg 0.8 mm.

Fresh spell of rain led to dip in temperatures. “Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius, Qazigund 27.5 C, Pahalgam 23.4 C, Kupwara 31.7 C, Kokernag 27.7 C, Gulmarg 17.5 C, Leh 28.1 C and Kargil 30.6 C,” the official added.

The official predicted more precipitation during next 24 hours. “There are chances of scattered to moderate rain/thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir divisions,” he added.

The official said that the department has been monitoring the weather conditions round the clock to ensure that AmarnathYatris don’t face any problems. “Two more weather monitoring stations are being installed to make quick predictions,” the official said.

The first update for pilgrims, he said, is released by the MeT department at 4 am and in case of erratic weather condition officials are informed at least three hours earlier.
