Many consumers disappointed as Recharge facility vanishes from markets

Mubashir Aalam Wani

Srinagar, Oct 16 (KNO): The restoration of postpaid mobile phone services are yet to provide any sigh of relief to thousands of users as they are unable to recharge their mobiles due to the lack of continuous internet gag and non-availability of recharge in the market.

It has become a difficult task for the people of Kashmir to recharge their mobile telephony after the services were restored on Monday noon following 70 days of suspension of mobile phone services. The services were suspended on August 05, when the government repealed the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union Territories.

The users of cellular companies including Airtel, Jio, Vodafone and Idea have been facing tremendous hardships in absence of recharge. “I visited almost every recharge point in Srinagar from last Monday, but the recharge was not available there,” Faizan Ahmad, a resident of Old city Srinagar told the wire service –Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He added that the consumers were easily recharging their mobile phones after accessing the internet, but since the services are continuously suspended, it has become difficult for them to recharge their telephony.

Many of the consumers stated that they managed to recharge their phones from outside Kashmir.  “After making failed attempts to recharge my mobile number, I asked my son, who is studying in Dehradun College to recharge my number,” GhulamNabi, another user said, adding that many of his relatives contacted his son to recharge their phone numbers.

The people running the recharge points too are facing hardships as the lack of recharge is depriving them from carrying out businesses. “We tried hard to make the recharge available, but all in vein,” Tariq Ahmad, one of Recharge point owner said, adding that the rush of consumers remained high on Monday when recharge was available at his shop, but the day-long show ended in evening as he was not able to recharge his number again. (KNO)
