Wants to become a cricketer like M S Dhoni

Anantnag, Mar 13 : A youth from Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district who is specially-abled by birth has attracted everyone with his push up videos.

Rayis Ahmad Shah, 16, a resident of Nagam Kokernag despite having a disability and unable to move can do 40 to 50 pushups at a time.

Mohammad Iqbal Shah, father of Rayis while talking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that despite his moment is confined to a wheelchair, he started practising playing cricket.

“We have our own net in our lawn where he plays cricket with locals besides that sometimes his friends take him outside to play cricket,” he said.

His brother Rehan Iqbal said that former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is his icon and he has grown hair like Dhoni earlier.

“He desires to represent India in cricket,” Iqbal said. “Rayis also wants to start a trust in public donations and start a hospital to treat disabled persons.”

Talking with KNO, Rayis said that he wants to stand on his legs and didn’t want to be a burden on his parents.

“It is not impossible for anyone including a person who can’t move without a wheelchair to pursue any dream. Though I have not achieved a lot, I can proudly say I am on the way to pursue my dream,” Rayis said.

“Many people like me are begging but my message for everyone is trying to earn yourself don’t be dependent on others,” he said

He appealed to the government to provide him support so that he can make himself able to get a spot on a mega stage on the cricket field—(KNO)
