Anantnag:30 August 2020: Police has arrested a person in Achbal area of southern Kashmir’s Anantnag district for allegedly raping two girls at his residence in Akingam.

As per reports the man from Tailwan Achabal village, Muhammad Maqbool Dar lodged a complaint at police station Achabal alleging that a self-styled faith healer forcibly raped her two daughters.

Accused self-styled ‘Peer’, Ashraf Mir son of Ghulam Ahmed Mir is the resident of Akingam village of Anantnag district.

He has mentioned in his complaint that his family used to visit the self-styled faith healer to get amulets and blessings from him. Now, it has dawned upon him that ‘Pir’ Ashraf Mir has forcibly tarnished the chastity of his two daughters.

DYSP Achbal Mohammad Rafiq Rather after receiving the complaint arrested the self-styled faith-healer within hours.

DySP said that accused has been taken into custody on rape charges. He said that a formal FIR vide number 68/2020 under section 376 has been registered at police station Achabal and investigation has been set into motion.

Meanwhile people from different sections of community in the area hailed this effort of concerned DySP Mohammed Rafiq Rather.
