Regarding the shifting of synthetic athletic track from Bandipora stadium to alternate place, a delegation of Bandipora Cricket Association along with senior Leader JKAP & Ex-MLA Bandipora Usman Majid met the Bandipora Deputy Commissioner today.
It is totally unfair to convert sports stadium Bandipora into Synthetic athletic track for athletes, adding that it is our home for cricket and football.Construction of Synthetic athletic track at Bandipora Stadium is although a welcome step, however it is expected to affect the most-played games like cricket & football. Youth in particular are up in arms over this initiative. The move about making synthetic track will hinder the sports activities in the place as cricket & football are two main games people love & play here. I am totally against this decision, Majid said.
Usman said, District administration is being mislead by some self styled persons for their personal gains.This stadium is home to about 120 cricket teams & 60 football clubs of our district.Where will all of them go,once athletic track is made here.This is infact matter of great concern.Youth who have so far been spending their time with sports here might be engaged into evilness.
Usman majid urged the Deputy commissioner Bandìpora to make a ground-level research regarding the construction of synthetic athletic track in Bandipora stadium and better would be to choose alternate place in Bandipora for it.The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured to resolve the issue at the earliest possible.
