This South Kashmir boy has won 20 gold medals in martial arts

Anantnag, Jan 01 (KNO): Sidrat- Ul- Muntaha,18, a martial art player from  Anantnag district has bagged 20 medals at the national and international level competitions.

A resident of Shirpora Anantnag, Muntaha, who is a 12th class student, aspires to become a big player in martial art and win more medals for Jammu and Kashmir.

Muntaha while talking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that after watching movies when he was in his primary classes, he got inclined towards the martial art and started learning the craft.

“Initially, I took part in district level championship in 2014 and later was part of state Wushu championship where I won the bronze medal. In 2016 I bagged good medal in national kickboxing championship held in Bihar,” Muntaha said.

“Then in the year 2017, I represented India in Open International Taekwondo Championship held in Thailand where I got a silver medal,” he said, adding that since then he has won several medals at state and national level.

Muntaha said to engage youth in sports, the government must come up with indoor sports stadiums and enhance the infrastructure of existing outdoor stadiums.

“Youth is Kashmir especially in the south are getting involved in drug addiction, there is a need for sports infrastructure,  so that we can engage our youth in sports activities and keep them away from drugs,” he said—(KNO)
