Srinagar, Mar 13 : Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Awantipora on Saturday claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Police spokesman told a news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that officers at a checkpoint established at Galander Byepass intercepted a vehicle (Tata Nano) bearing registration number JK01P-4633 with three persons on board.
They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Khan, Javid Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Khan—both residents of Ringballa Kupwara and Gazanfar Mukhtar of Rawalpora Sanat Nagar.
During checking, officers were able to recover 6Kgs of grinded Cannabis from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Pampore where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, police said, adding that a case under FIR number 29/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood—(KNO)
