Former Minister & Senior Apni Party Leader Usman Majid today felicitated people on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan, probably starting from tomorrow subject to appearance of crescent.
“With the start of the holy month of Ramadan, I extend felicitations to the people of Jammu & Kashmir,” Majid said in a message.
He said, ”Ramadan fast teaches us to practice piety, self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, tolerance, justice and empathy for the less fortunate in society. Let us reflect on these lessons during the 30 days fasting period.”
Majid urged for heeding the true Islamic teachings of peace, unity and integrity for the larger good of the mankind. “I pray to Almighty Allah to make this sacred month a positively new beginning in our individual and collective lives,” he said, adding “I wish and pray that this month becomes a harbinger of peace and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir and its people.
However, in view of the grim situation around the world, Majid urged people to strictly follow the directions issued by the ministry of health and World Health Organisation and not violate the lockdown rules.
Majid said people should not congregate for iftar in mosques. “As we are practicing social distancing, people should not hold iftar parties. Instead, that money can be used to buy food for the hungry or poor and one should try to ensure that no one goes hungry in this month of Ramadan,” added Usman.
