Gulzari Begum, 9 months pregnant in Narikut village of Kalaroos, Kupwara District, was carried to kalaroos hospital in wee hours of morning by Army in its vehicle.
The pregnant lady experienced labour pain at around 6 AM. The route to villlage was closed due to snow and unavailability of civil vehicle/ ambulance at that moment further worsened the situation for the family. The panic stuck family requested the Company Commander for emergency evacuation to Kalaroos Hospital.
As always being first responders in far flung villages, a light vehicle was immediately sent along with a team and medical persons to the location and the lady was evacuated to Kalaroos hospital in time.
The quick response to the request during bad weather conditions by Humdard-E-Kupwara Battalion saved a life and further cemented the faith of AWAM in Army. The family and the doctors expressed their deep gratitude for this humane act.
