Cops to get all fringe benefits Central forces are entitled for, Force to get hi-tech gadgets, special training

Srinagar, Oct 31 (KNO): In a significant development, Jammu and Kashmir police personnel will be now treated at par with the Central forces while as all benefits that Central forces enjoy will also be given to the J&K cops.

 The announcement in this regard was made by the Prime Minister Narendera Modi on the eve of Rashtriya Ekta Divas that is observed across the country on the eve of birth anniversary of Sardar Valabhai Patel.  According to the wire-service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), J&K police force that has a strength of over one lakh including personnel, will enjoy all the benefits that Central forces like Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) enjoy. The announcement comes on a day when J&K and Ladakh were officially declared as Union Territories (UTs).

An official in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) revealed that the J&K cops will be provided with all the latest gadgets including bullet proof vehicles that will have GPS fitted devices, ambulances that have all the basic facilities needed at the time of dealing with the emergency like situations, special trainings including commando trainings, and long leaves, vacations period, insurance cover, and much more. “J&K cops will also get latest weaponry and all other accessories needed for smart policing,” the official said.

Above all, the J&K cops will get an ex-gratia of Rs 1.20 crore in case death is caused in line of duty that includes while combatting militancy. “This has been the long demand which has not been met,” said a senior police officer told KNO, wishing not to be named.
