VAJR DIVISION/HAJIPIR BRIGADE/HUMDARD-E-KUPWARA BN 41 RR
To commemorate the supreme sacrifice made by Late Hav Habibullah Qureshi, 41RR Hamdard e Kupwara today started a Football Championship fielding 16 teams from the district.
Late Hav Habibullah Qureshi who hailed from Batpora Village of Hayama, Kupwara had laid down his life in Feb 2018 whilst fighting terrorists in Sunjuwan Army Camp. The Hav Habibullah Memorial Cup is held every year to commemorate his supreme sacrifice. Last year the Championship was held in Panzgam, Kupwara.
The inaugural match was held between Dar Sports, Kupwara and Dever Team in which Dar Sports scored 3 goals in second half. Prizes were distributed after the match by Hav (Retd) Haji Imanulla Qureshi, father of Late Hav Habibullah, CO 41RR and Md Sultan Malik, veteran football player from Kupwara.
The tournament is being held on knockout basis at GHSS ground, Kupwara.
