Say they have got verbal assurances on promotion, no official order, Procedure will be same as for B tech: Dean Engineering KU

Jahangeer Ganaie

Srinagar, June 17 (KNO): The M.Tech students of Kashmir University have appealed to concerned authorities to issue a formal order about their promotion to the next semester.

The students told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that authorities have been continuously assuring them that they are going to promote M.Tech students, however, no order has been issued yet.

“Authorities are keeping us in a dilemma as even after 12 days of meeting between SSM authorities and Deen Engineering that was conducted on June 05 and all issues were discussed and finalized but we are still waiting for official order,” the aggrieved students said.

An M.Tech student said that they have been victims of official apathy since they were admitted in year 2018 as even after lapsing of two years, they are yet to complete semester first

He said after the semester examination was concluded, authorities without any reasons decided to change their course besides from Thermal to General Mechanical.

“Now even leading IITs and engineering colleges have decided to promote M.Tech students as per UGC guidelines but we are still waiting for an official announcement,” he said.

The students appealed authorities to take them at par with Post Graduate students and whatever decision has been taken must be announced officially.

They said that some officials have informed them that the authorities have decided to conduct online examinations of 35 marks, viva 25 marks and 40 marks will be given to internal examination. They said they were presently attending online classes of 3rd semester as per the directions of authorities but at the time if they will be asked to prepare for second semester examination, it will cause great stress for all the students.

On contacting Dean School of Engineering University of Kashmir Syed Muzzafar Andrabi said that they have already informed them that an online examination of 35 marks will be held.

“Viva will be of 25 marks that will be conducted on phone. Procedure will be remain as was decided for B tech students,” he said—(KNO)
