Jahangir Lolab

Srinagar, July 11 (GNS): Locals on Thursday alleged Rural Development Department of using substandard material in macadamizing the six kilometer stretch on Lolab-Kupwara road.

They said the road has been lying in shambles for years now and “now that the work has started we are witnessing the concerned department of resorting to shoddy practices”.

The people sought intervention from district administration and take action against the concerned officials and authorities.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Anshul Garg when contacted by GNS assured that “proper action will follow”.

Yesterday government sought a time period of 15 days from SHRC to complete the macadamization on the road stretch.

“The report from the Chief Engineer alongwith Executive Engineer and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara have been received and is available in the file on record. The report makes comments with the strength up to six kilometers from Khumriyal to Vawoora have been undertaken on war foot basis,” the order by SHRC read.

The road stretch extends link of the district headquarter with many vital areas including Sogam, Diver, Khurhama, Machil, Tekipora and Lolab. (GNS)
