Srinagar, Dec 30 (KNO): The Covid-19 pandemic lockdown that forced people indoors spawned a wave of first-time authors in J&K.

The experience of the lockdown with all the accompanying emotions of fear, loneliness and uncertainty resulted in rising of writers and many people who were busy in their work got time to express their emotions through their writings.

Sahiba Irshad Wani a 12th class student from Bijbehara area said that since her childhood she was interested in making writing but wasn’t getting time, however, during Covid lockdown she has written dozens of poems.

Sahiba said that she has so far written around two dozen poems and they are multi-dimensional, however, her prime focus is about depression and anxiety and how to get out of it.

Mir Areiba a 12th class student from Kadlabal Pampore who has published her maiden poetry book Nimble Kingdom, Kingdom of my emotions, recently said that she had a flair for writing since class 6 but during Covid lockdown, she got more time in writing poems.

“I am writing another book, it is a novel that is based on the life and will be published soon,” she said.

Muntazir Yasir, another writer from Kulgam who is writing poems as well as prose in both Urdu and Kashmiri said that he got ample amount of time during Covid lockdown to spent on his writing.

“My four books are complete but due to financial issues I am unable to publish them,” he said.

Shahid Fayaz Bhat alias Saqi a resident of Kulgam who is pursuing his Bachelor’s in Philosophy and Literature said that since childhood he was fond of poetry and writing and so far has written eight books.

“I managed to publish seven books this year, Bhat said.

Arbeena Wani another writer from Kulgam said that she has been interested in writing since childhood but during Covid lockdown, she got time to publish her maiden book.

“I am also writing a book on social issues pertaining to the student community,” Wani said—(KNO)
